Okanagan Cultivators signs agreement with Canada's Farm Boys to begin constructing mobile grow facilities to deploy around the world.

In the world of cannabis cultivation few companies are actually getting it right the first time.

Many companies have spent 100’s of millions building out from the ground up huge buildings before even getting their licences and approvals to cultivate. In Germany tenders are selected and offered only for three years and does not guarantee a continuation after three years. A company could be left with a huge facility and no licence offered or renewed leaving the company with a facility empty and unable to operate. Or a licenced company may now need to wait 18 months before commissioning a new building for cultivation which could cost 100’s of million in lost revenue. Or worse the government pulls your licence for some reason and unfortunately you can’t take that building elsewhere.

When it comes to cannabis seeds and genetics there is no other company quite like Barneys Farm, a Holland based seed company in business since 1986. It was the late 1980s and high atop the Himalayas, heavy snow hurling its way down from the skies, a small group of breeders began to cross-breed marijuana strains carefully selected from every corner of the Middle East and Asia. Bountiful harvests of Sativa and Indica cultivars kept the group’s spirits up during a 3 year stint in the rural, desolate mountains. One member of this talented group would go on to create one of the most prominent cannabis seed production businesses in the world. That business is Barney’s Farm and the man who started it all is Derry.

After his period of successful cultivation in Asia, Derry returned to Amsterdam in 1992 with his newly created cannabis seeds and took the helm at Barney’s Coffee Shop.
